CommunityPolicing.com is committed to making its content accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that law enforcement training resources, criminal justice research, and public safety information should be available to everyone.

We are actively working to improve the accessibility of this site and to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standard.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

WCAG 2.2 is organized around four principles: content must be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR). We use these principles to guide our design and development decisions.

Current accessibility features on this site include: semantic HTML structure with appropriate heading hierarchy; descriptive alt text on images; keyboard navigation support for interactive elements; visible focus indicators for keyboard users; ARIA labels on navigation landmarks and complex interactive components; color contrast ratios designed to meet WCAG AA minimums; responsive design supporting mobile and tablet devices; and text that can be resized without loss of content or functionality.

We are aware of the following areas where accessibility improvements are in progress: the interactive Cold Case Map includes a text-based alternative for users who cannot access the visual map; some older content pages may not yet fully meet our current accessibility standards and are being updated on a rolling basis; and complex data tables in some case law sections are being reviewed for screen reader compatibility.
